Chairman Parliamentary Committee On Energey Hon. Momoh Bockarie Celebrates Women’s

Honourable Momoh Bockarie, Member of Parliament representing Kenema District who doubles as the Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Energy, has extended heartfelt congratulations and warm wishes to women across his constituency and the nation as they commemorate International Women’s Day.

In a special me issued to mark the global celebration, the astute and dynamic lawmaker praised the resilienced strength, and invaluable contributions of women within the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), particularly those in Constituency 012, Kenema District, the Eastern Region, and across Sierra Leone.

Hon. Bockarie described women as the backbone of communities and a driving force for sustainable development and national progress. As a strong advocate for gender equality and a committed HeForShe supporter, he reaffirmed his dedication to supporting policies and initiatives that uplift women and promote equal opportunities.

“Women are born strong; what they need is equality and peace,” the honourable lawmaker stated. He further emphasized that empowering women is fundamental to national development, adding that “there is no limit to what women can achieve.”

According to him, when women are given the opportunity to lead and participate fully in decision-making processes, societies flourish and nations advance. “When women lead, nations rise,” he affirmed while extending his best wishes for a meaningful and inspiring International Women’s Day celebration to all women.

Hon. Bockarie also used the occasion to commend the Government of Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio for his continued commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality. He acknowledged the administration’s policies and initiatives aimed at promoting women’s participation in governance, education, and economic development.

In the same message, the legislator expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Maada Bio, for her unwavering advocacy for the welfare of women, girls, and children through the widely recognized Hands Off Our Girls campaign. Hon. Bockarie noted that the First Lady’s efforts have significantly amplified the national conversation on protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls.

Furthermore, the Member of Parliament extended a special message of recognition to his female colleagues in Parliament, applauding their dedication and contributions to the legislative process and national development.

While celebrating their achievements, Hon. Bockarie also paid tribute to female Members of Parliament who have passed away, expressing deep sorrow over their loss. He particularly mourned the recent passing of Hon. Ella Mariama Goba, describing her demise as a painful loss to the nation and the parliamentary community.

“I am deeply saddened by the demise of our female colleagues, especially our recent loss of Hon. Ella Mariama Goba. Their contributions to national development and women’s representation will never be forgotten,” he lamented.

Hon. Bockarie concluded by reiterating his unwavering support for women and encouraged continued unity, empowerment, and advocacy to ensure that women across Sierra Leone are given the opportunities they deserve.

“Happy International Women’s Day to our women. Your strength, courage, and leadership continue to inspire our nation,” he concluded.
