Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh on Sunday made a brief stop at the Jendema Border Crossing while en route to Monrovia, Liberia, to grace the Inaugural and Fundraising Ceremony of the SLPP Liberia Chapter.

At the checkpoint, Chief Minister was warmly received by the Deputy Ambassador to Liberia, Luseni Kallon, the Customs Border Manager, Mujiru Kallon, and other border officials. During the visit, Dr. Sengeh toured the facility and interacted with staff to gain firsthand insight into its operations and challenges.
Customs Border Manager Mujiru Kallon explained that the current facilities were constructed during the COVID-19 pandemic to support border operations, including cash revenue collection, which is subsequently conveyed to Bo District. He highlighted challenges faced during the rainy season, noting that flooding affects certain areas of the facility. The checkpoint operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Personnel stationed at the border include officers from the Office of National Security (ONS), the Immigration Department, and the Customs Unit, led by the Sub-Inspector and Head of Immigration, S.I. Wai, alongside other supporting staff.
Chief Minister’s engagement underscores the Government of Sierra Leone’s commitment to effective border management, enhanced revenue collection, and strengthened regional cooperation. The visit aligns with the Government’s “Big Five” Game Changers agenda, particularly in improving governance, trade facilitation, and efficient public service delivery, while ensuring that strategic border facilities contribute meaningfully to national development priorities.
