Dr. Ibrahim Bangura Honoured Among Africa’s Most Reputable

The Global Reputation Forum, in partnership with Reputation Poll International, has named Dr. Ibrahim Bangura among the 100 Most Reputable Africans for 2026, a prestigious recognition celebrating Africans whose work reflects trust, integrity, leadership, and measurable impact on the continent’s development.

The annual benchmark evaluates reputation across key pillars, including leadership credibility, public trust, innovation, and social influence. The 2026 edition spans several categories, among them Leadership, Governance and Public Trust; Enterprise, Wealth Creation and Economic Transformation; Culture, Creativity and Influence; Voices of Influence, Media and Narrative Leadership; Knowledge, Education and Innovation; Humanity and Social Impact; and Sport and Human Potential.

Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, a renowned Sierra Leonean academic and development expert, was recognised under the Knowledge, Education & Innovation category. This category honours academics, scientists, researchers, and innovators who are expanding knowledge, advancing technology, and developing solutions to Africa’s present and future challenges.

In this highly competitive category, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura was listed alongside prominent African and global intellectual figures, including Bishop David Oyedepo, Dr. Dami Kujembola, Dr. Hakima Elhaite, Hasnae Taleb, Dr. Hajar Mousannif, Engineer Kat Moses Monyjok, Dr. Lola Bayode, Dr. M’zee Fula Ngenge, Professor Nnenna Oti, Dr. Segnet Kelemu, Dr. Magdi Yacoub, Dr. Youness Ahallal, Dr. Makena Anne, and His Royal Majesty Oba Dokun Thompson, among others. Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s selection reflects over 18 years of professional experience in peacebuilding, post-conflict recovery, and development policy across Africa. He currently serves as an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and is a Senior Partner at Transition International, a Netherlands-based consultancy firm.

Since 2010, he has worked as a Results-Oriented Monitoring (ROM) Consultant for European Union funded programmes, monitoring and evaluating projects in more than 30 African countries, including South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is also a facilitator with institutions such as the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Ghana.

Beyond academia, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has made significant contributions to research and policy discourse. His notable publications include Youth-Led Social Movements and Peacebuilding in Africa (Routledge, 2022) and Corruption, Underdevelopment and the Complicity of the Masses in Africa (Brazilian Journal of African Studies, 2022). His work consistently addresses issues of governance, youth engagement, reintegration of ex-combatants, and sustainable peace in Africa.

Born in central Freetown to Senior APC Comrade M. L. Bangura, a prominent APC figure from Mambolo Chiefdom in Kambia District, Dr. Bangura attended Government Rokel Secondary School and St. Edward’s Secondary School before pursuing higher education at Fourah Bay College and internationally. He has remained actively engaged in leadership and political mobilisation from his student days and is currently a leading flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC). Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s inclusion among Africa’s 100 Most Reputable Africans 2026 stands as a testament to Sierra Leone’s growing contribution to global knowledge, innovation, and thought leadership.
