*NASSIT Marks 23rd Muslim ~Thanksgiving~

By Benjamin S Conteh

The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has marked its 23rd Annual Muslim Thanksgiving with special prayers and reflections, reaffirming its commitment to prudent management, accountability, and service to contributors across Sierra Leone.

The thanksgiving ceremony, held at the NASSIT Mosque, brought together management, staff, and invited worshippers to seek divine guidance and express gratitude to Allah for the institution’s continued progress and stability over the years.
Delivering the special sermon, the Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Chernor Mohamed Jalloh, prayed for the successful implementation of NASSIT’s programmes and policies. He urged worshippers and staff to remain grateful to Allah for His guidance, wisdom, and protection in the administration of the Trust, noting that gratitude is key to sustaining blessings.
Sheikh Jalloh likened NASSIT to an “osusu”, the traditional savings scheme familiar to many Sierra Leoneans, explaining that contributors collectively save during their working years to secure support during old age, invalidity, or in the event of death. He emphasized that such a system requires trust, integrity, and responsible stewardship, and prayed for divine wisdom to continually guide NASSIT’s leadership in managing contributors’ funds.

He further reminded staff that handling contributors’ resources is both a professional duty and a moral responsibility, urging transparency, fairness, and fear of God in all decisions affecting contributors and beneficiaries.
Participants at the event praised NASSIT for sustaining the tradition of blending spiritual reflection with professional service, describing the annual Muslim Thanksgiving as a timely reminder of the institution’s social responsibility to contributors and the nation at large. They noted that such moments of prayer reinforce ethical conduct, accountability, and unity among staff.
The 23rd Annual Muslim Thanksgiving forms part of NASSIT’s broader commitment to inclusivity and institutional values, recognizing the role of faith and moral guidance in strengthening public service delivery and safeguarding the trust placed in the institution by workers nationwide.
