Victim of Political Violence Declared Wanted!
Unisa Bambay Kamara, a victim of political violence, has been declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), who are looking for him.
According to a resident of Kingtom community, who begged for his name not to be published, Unisa disappeared because some people suspected to be thugs and the SLP are looking for him, and speculation are mounting that he is around the municipality.
The anonymous source informed this medium that Unisa’s mother, who has been murdered for political reasons as she was a strong supporter of the All Peoples Congress (APC), the main political rivals of the ruling Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) regime, informed him before she died that her son, Bambay, on 15th May 2023, was beaten by a group of people who went to look for her and her husband, Unisa’s parents.
He said Unisa, who was thrown from the second floor of their house, was left for dead; but his mother took him to the hospital to be treated for his injuries sustained from the attack.
He said the mother further explained that whilst Unisa was responding to treatment at the hospital, strange people were asking about his whereabouts, a reason they had to leave the hospital.
He explained that after Unisa knew that his mother has been murdered, Unisa became very afraid, adding that he (religious leader) returned home one evening to realize that Unisa had disappeared.
At the crucial time, Unisa is still at large; and it is still not known whether he is alive or dead.
His wife and three kids are exposed to intimidation and harassment.
Sources stated that he is the grandson of former Inspector General of Police, Bambay Kamara, who was executed by the NPRC military junta in the early nineties.
