Parliament Hails QCell for Championing Affordable and Reliable Telecom Services

In a strong show of support for corporate accountability and consumer welfare, Members of Parliament have commended QCell Sierra Leone for its outstanding dedication to providing affordable, high-quality, and reliable telecommunications services to citizens across the country.

During a recent joint parliamentary session held by the Committees on Transparency and Accountability, and Information and Communications, lawmakers engaged representatives from Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to discuss the recent surge in tariff prices a matter that has generated widespread public concern.

Chairman of the Transparency and Accountability Committee, Hon. Maada Labbie of Bo District, singled out QCell as a model of fairness and responsibility in Sierra Leone’s telecom industry. He applauded the company for maintaining stable and affordable rates, even at a time when other operators have significantly raised their tariffs.

QCell has remained one of the most compliant, transparent, and people-focused operators since its establishment in Sierra Leone,” Hon. Labbie stated. “Their decision to maintain affordable tariffs for data, voice, and SMS has greatly eased the burden on students, traders, workers, and rural communities who depend heavily on mobile services for education, business, and communication. In an age where digital connectivity is a necessity, QCell continues to stand tall as a true partner in national development.”

Other committee members echoed his sentiments, describing QCell’s business model as an example of responsible competition that puts the interest of the people first. They further encouraged other telecom operators to emulate QCell’s approach by balancing profit-making with social responsibility.

The parliamentary session concluded with a call for sustained collaboration between government regulators and telecom companies to ensure that service delivery remains both affordable and accessible to all citizens. QCell’s consistency in quality and pricing, lawmakers agreed, sets a positive benchmark for the industry
