In a powerful display of empathy, leadership, and commitment to inclusive development, Dr. Victor A. B. Davies, a respected economist and aspirant for the All People’s Congress (APC) Flagbearer and Presidential Candidate for 2028, made a remarkable donation of mobility aids to the APC National Disabled Wing on Saturday, 1st November 2025, at the APC Party Headquarters in Freetown.

The donation ceremony held under the theme “Solution and Development Journalism” brought together party executives, members of the disabled community, the media, and advocates for social inclusion. The event highlighted how compassion and development-oriented leadership can work hand in hand to advance national progress.

A Leader with a Heart for All

In his keynote remarks, Dr. Davies reaffirmed his long-standing belief that no nation can truly prosper if any segment of its population is left behind. His gesture, he noted, was not driven by politics, but by a deep personal empathy for people living with disabilities and their daily struggles.

I decided to make this donation because I have a deep feeling for people with disabilities. Everyone in Sierra Leone faces hardship in one way or another, but certain groups like our disabled brothers and sisters suffer even more. This small gesture is my way of showing sympathy and standing with them,” Dr. Davies said.

The donation included 50 wheelchairs, walking aids, and crutches, marking the first phase of a broader national initiative aimed at improving mobility and empowerment for disadvantaged communities across Sierra Leone. Dr. Davies emphasized that more support will follow in the coming months as part of his long-term vision for inclusive national development.

A Vision Rooted in Hope

When asked about the financial cost of the donation, Dr. Davies declined to reveal figures, stating that “the true value lies not in the price, but in the impact it brings to the lives of others.”

He concluded his address with a message that resonated deeply with attendees:

There is hope for Sierra Leone real hope. But to realize it, we must choose the right leadership. My decision to step forward in 2028 is driven by a desire to lift our nation from the bottom to the top. Together, we can build a Sierra Leone that works for everyone, including the most vulnerable among us.”

Voices of Gratitude and Inspiration

The Chairperson of the APC Disabled Wing expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Davies for his timely intervention and inclusive vision, noting that such acts of kindness restore dignity and confidence among persons with disabilities.

The event concluded with a brief question-and-answer session, followed by a vote of thanks delivered on behalf of the beneficiaries
underscoring the hope that Sierra Leone’s political future can be guided by empathy, service, and inclusive development.
