Dr. Richard Konteh Urges APC Revival Ahead of 2028

In a passionate and historic address to a large gathering in Makarie Chiefdom, Bombali District, Dr. Richard Konteh, a senior stalwart of the All People’s Congress (APC), outlined a bold vision for the party’s resurgence and Sierra Leone’s political renewal ahead of the 2028 general elections. His speech, blending history, regional pride, and hope, sought to inspire both party members and the broader Sierra Leonean populace.

Dr. Konteh evoked memories of Sierra Leone’s political milestones, recalling the tumultuous 1967 general elections when the APC’s victory was temporarily disrupted by a series of military coups. He lauded the decisive intervention of Brigadier John Amadu Bangura, a Loko man from Tambiama in Bombali District, who restored constitutional order and ensured that Siaka P. Stevens assumed leadership.

“Just as a Loko man saved the APC from the SLPP’s schemes in 1967,” Dr. Konteh proclaimed, “so too will I, Dr. Richard Konteh, work tirelessly to redeem the APC and revive the promise of our nation in 2028.”

The declaration sparked overwhelming applause, resonating strongly with supporters who see Bombali as the historical heartland of the APC. His message of redemption, renewal, and regional pride struck a chord with the audience, underscoring both party loyalty and a call for national unity.

Dr. Konteh did not shy away from criticizing the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), accusing the government of steering the country toward economic instability and social decline. “Sierra Leone is at a critical crossroads,” he warned. “This movement is not just about reviving the APC—it is about saving our nation. Together, we can restore hope, stability, and progress.”

The speech has since gained traction across social media and political circles, being described by many as a defining moment in the APC’s journey toward the 2028 elections. Political analysts, however, caution that while Dr. Konteh’s rhetoric resonates strongly with loyalists, his ultimate challenge will be presenting a unifying national agenda and practical policy solutions capable of bridging ethnic and regional divides.

As the countdown to 2028 continues, Dr. Konteh’s rallying cry signals not only his ambition to shape the future of the APC but also his determination to influence the direction of Sierra Leone’s broader political landscape, inspiring renewed hope for a more prosperous and united nation.
