QNET Targets Brand Fraud in Africa
By Chernor Jalloh
The global direct-selling giant QNET has vowed to take decisive action against criminals who exploit its reputable brand to defraud unsuspecting members of the public in Africa. In an exclusive interview, Rayma Chandrasekaran, Chief Communications Officer of QI Group, said that while QNET proudly offers over 30 brands through its worldwide network of distributors, its growing challenge in Africa remains the misuse of the company’s name by fraudulent actors.
Chandrasekaran explained that some unscrupulous individuals, particularly desperate youths, have been misleading the public by falsely claiming they can help people study or work abroad for lucrative salaries under the QNET brand. “The saddest part,” she noted, “is that those who fall prey to these schemes often fail to verify the claims with the relevant authorities, including QNET.”
Reassuring the public, Chandrasekaran emphasized that QNET is committed to transparency and ethical business practices. “We do not charge money to recruit people for overseas work or study,” she stated. “We are not involved in human trafficking or any other criminal activity, and we urge everyone not to fall for such fraudulent but enticing offers.”
To combat these deceptive practices, QNET has launched extensive public awareness campaigns across media platforms and is actively training its distributors and law enforcement agencies on the company’s legitimate operations. Chandrasekaran explained that these initiatives aim to educate the public on how QNET operates and provide tools to distinguish genuine opportunities from scams.
While acknowledging that changing public perception will take time, she remains optimistic that persistent awareness efforts will curb criminal activity. “These fraudsters are trying to put us out of business,” she said, “but with continued vigilance and public cooperation, we can expose them and protect innocent people.” Chandrasekaran also highlighted that QNET has funded the repatriation of individuals sent abroad by fraudulent schemes, further distancing the company from any criminal activities.
She further disclosed that the company is proactive in monitoring and addressing brand misuse through social and traditional media, erecting billboards, and empowering its distributor network to educate the public.
QNET continues to operate globally, offering products in health, wellness, nutrition, and lifestyle sectors, including water filtration systems, through its e-commerce platform. Distributors earn commissions from legitimate product sales, not from recruitment fees, underscoring the company’s commitment to ethical business practices.
