Chief Minister Sengeh Strengthens Grassroots Engagement in Moyamba’s Kamajei Chiefdom
Kamajei Chiefdom, Moyamba District – Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development and closer collaboration with local communities during a working visit to Gondama Town. The visit, held in honor of Paramount Chief Brima Sundufu Sovula IV, underscored the SLPP government’s philosophy of listening to the people, engaging directly, and acting on their development priorities.

The occasion was sparked by the Paramount Chief’s gratitude after returning from a government-assisted medical trip. Instead of receiving a delegation of Section Chiefs in Freetown, Dr. Sengeh opted to travel personally to Kamajei Chiefdom a decision he described as a gesture of humility and a reaffirmation of government’s accessibility.
We are here today because of development. Paramount Chief Sovula wanted his Section Chiefs to thank me in Freetown, but I told him, ‘No need I will come to Kamajei Chiefdom myself.’ That is why I am here,” the Chief Minister said.

During community engagement, Dr. Sengeh credited President Julius Maada Bio as the first Head of State to bring tangible and sustained development to Kamajei Chiefdom. He highlighted infrastructure improvements such as the construction of 16 culverts, the Feed Salone initiative, and RSLAF’s farming activities in the area, noting their role in boosting employment and food self-sufficiency.
He also commended Paramount Chief Sovula’s leadership, particularly the appointment of a woman to his administration, aligning with government’s drive for gender inclusion.

Other highlights included:
Hon. Sylvester Boima’s pledge to renovate the historic 1920 community center, later taken over personally by Dr. Sengeh.
Paramount Chief Sovula’s appeal for a modern health facility, housing for nurses, school support, clean water, and alternative livelihoods.
His donation of 100 acres of land to support government-backed agriculture in line with the Feed Salone program.
The event drew MPs, council leaders, youth representatives, and traditional authorities, all of whom expressed strong support for the Bio-led administration.
Closing the meeting, Dr. Sengeh emphasized that development is about inclusion and national transformation:
My connection to this region is personal. Development is not for a few; it is for all.”
