September 13, 2025. The Chief Executive Officer of QCell Sierra Leone has announced a groundbreaking educational sponsorship program aimed at nurturing academic excellence and empowering the next generation of leaders from Koindu, Kailahun District.

Speaking during the unveiling of the initiative, the CEO disclosed that QCell will provide a three-year sponsorship package beginning this year. Under the program, the top five students from Koindu will each receive a sponsorship award of Le 5,000 annually.
“We are pleased to announce a new three-year sponsorship initiative for the students from Koindu, starting this year, to support academic excellence. Under this program, the top five students each year will receive a sponsorship award of Le 5,000 each. This commitment reflects our continued investment in the future of education and youth empowerment,” the CEO stated.

The initiative comes at a time when many families in Koindu face economic challenges that hinder children’s access to quality education. By targeting the brightest students, QCell hopes to motivate young learners to strive for excellence while reducing the financial burdens on their families.

Education stakeholders in Kailahun have warmly welcomed the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that will boost morale among students and encourage competitive learning. Local authorities also expressed gratitude to QCell for its sustained contributions to national development, noting that such partnerships between the private sector and communities are vital for Sierra Leone’s progress.
With this move, QCell continues to demonstrate its commitment not only to telecommunications but also to corporate social responsibility, particularly in the areas of education, youth development, and empowerment.
