Hon. Alusine Kanneh Calls on Teachers to Safeguard Education

Teachers across Sierra Leone, particularly in government and government-assisted schools, have launched a strike over issues including unpaid school subsidies and challenging working conditions. The strike has disrupted learning for countless students, prompting a heartfelt response from Honorable Alusine Kanneh.

Kanneh appeals to teachers to reconsider their strike and return to classrooms, stressing that today’s pupils are tomorrow’s leaders. He underscores that the education of young people is vital for the nation’s progress and should not be compromised.

Highlighting the government’s investments in education, Kanneh urges collaboration and dialogue to resolve challenges. He believes that teachers and authorities can work together to uphold educational standards while addressing legitimate concerns.

Known as a champion for the underprivileged, Kanneh emphasizes that education should serve as a bridge to a better life for all students, regardless of their backgrounds. His reputation as an “unblemished and untainted” leader who transcends political divides has earned him widespread respect. He calls on members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) to embrace peace, tolerance, and unity during these critical times.

Throughout his career, Kanneh has demonstrated integrity, honesty, and compassion. From serving as Deputy Chief Whip for the SLPP (2018–2023) to his recent tenure as Chief Immigration Officer
where he implemented significant improvements and restored corporate efficiency his leadership has consistently yielded positive results.

His appeal to teachers is more than a call to resume work it is a reminder of our collective duty to nurture future generations. Through unity, dialogue, and commitment, Sierra Leone can ensure that its youth are equipped to lead with vision and integrity.
