Four Men Remanded on Multiple Armed Robbery Charges

Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1 on Thursday, 28 August 2025, ordered the remand of four men facing serious armed robbery charges.

The accused Abu Bakarr Sesay alias Osman, Alpha Kamara alias Fabulus, Dawda Kelfala Sesay alias Daioish/Blacker, and Abu Bakarr Kabia alias Angel are jointly charged with ten counts, including conspiracy and robbery with aggravation contrary to Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as repealed and replaced by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2022 (Act No.6 of 2022).

According to the prosecution, between 1 May and 27 May 2025, the accused conspired with others unknown to commit armed robbery. On 27 May 2025, at Marborkor Town, they allegedly, while armed with pistols, robbed businessman Mukesh Ray of 30,000 Indian Rupees (Le8,310) and 30,000 United States Dollars (Le723,000).

It was further alleged that on the same date, Osman Kamara, armed with a pistol, robbed another victim, Rajeev Ronjan Kumar, of a Vivo Y200 Android phone valued at 300 USD (Le7,230).

In his testimony, Kumar, an iron mechanic residing in Marborkor Town, identified the second and fourth accused and narrated how the men stormed his residence at gunpoint. He recalled that the assailants demanded money and diamonds, beat him with a gun, broke into a safe, and stole 30,000 USD, 30,000 Indian Rupees, and 665 Euros. He further testified that the accused fired gunshots during the robbery, injuring two occupants of the house. The matter was later reported at the Marborkor Police Station, where victims were issued medical reports.

A medical report marked as Exhibit Z was tendered in court.

Defense lawyer Abdul Rahman Kargbo applied for bail on behalf of the first accused, but Magistrate Jah denied the application, citing the seriousness of the matter. The case was adjourned to Thursday, 4 September 2025.
