ACC Commissioner Champions African Investment Integrity in London
London, United Kingdom 10th July 2025
Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone, Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., is today representing Sierra Leone at a prestigious high-level conference held at the UK Parliament in London. The event, titled the Ease of Doing Business in Africa Conference, convenes senior policymakers, legal experts, and business leaders to discuss how Africa can become a more attractive destination for sustainable investment through reforms and ethical governance.

Hosted by the Rt. Hon. Diane Abbott, the longest-serving Black Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom and a globally respected advocate for racial equity and international development, the conference focuses on unlocking Africa’s economic potential by reinforcing transparency, legal certainty, and institutional strength.
Commissioner Kaifala will participate as a lead panelist in Panel 2, themed “Strengthening Integrity and Legal Confidence for Investment in Africa.” This session will explore the critical role that anti-corruption institutions, legal frameworks, and good governance play in shaping investor confidence and fostering sustainable economic growth across African nations.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Nero Ughwujabo, a Strategy Adviser at The King’s Trust and former Special Adviser to the UK Prime Minister on Social Justice and Young People.
Joining Commissioner Kaifala on the panel are:
Zurina Saban, General Counsel at Africa50
Dr. Vumile Msweli, CEO of Hesed Consulting, South Africa
The conference is designed to foster dialogue between African leaders and international stakeholders on practical strategies to create transparent business environments, strengthen regulatory systems, and enhance the ease of doing business on the continent.

Ahead of his departure from Freetown, Commissioner Kaifala emphasized the foundational importance of strong institutions to economic transformation.
Investment in Africa must rest on a solid foundation of integrity and justice. When institutions are strong and corruption is not tolerated, trust flourishes, and economies grow,” he stated.
His participation reflects Sierra Leone’s commitment to regional and global collaboration in the fight against corruption and the promotion of accountable governance. It also highlights the ACC’s growing role in shaping the broader conversation around ethical investment in Africa.
The Ease of Doing Business in Africa Conference at Westminster represents a pivotal opportunity to align Africa’s reform agenda with international expectations and support meaningful partnerships that drive inclusive development, innovation, and prosperity across the continent.
