Judith Kosseh Runs for SLPP Treasurer

By Edward Kabba Sesay

Freetown, July 10, 2025 — Judith Boi Kosseh, a seasoned public servant and current Deputy Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbour Authority (SLPHA), has announced her candidacy for the role of National Treasurer of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP). With a campaign grounded in financial reform, transparency, and internal unity, Kosseh is positioning herself as a fresh voice ready to modernize the party’s financial systems.

“This is not my first engagement in national politics,” Kosseh told reporters during her official declaration. “While in the UK, I served as an executive member of the SLPP. I returned home in 2016 to help champion President Julius Maada Bio’s campaign. Now, I’m ready to lead from the front.”

Kosseh’s announcement signals a shift from background advocacy to a hands-on leadership role. A former Auditor 2 in the United Kingdom, she brings extensive financial experience and a commitment to raising standards in party management. “You can’t effect real change from the sidelines,” she added. “You have to be at the table.”

She acknowledged the contributions of the current National Treasurer her elder sister and now Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to The Gambia but emphasized the need for new energy and updated systems. “She has served well, and I respect her for that,” Kosseh said. “But I believe I can introduce a more modern and efficient financial framework.”

Kosseh also highlighted the importance of meritocracy and accountability in party appointments. “We must move away from placing individuals in key positions based on favoritism,” she said. “Competence must come first.”

Clarifying her political stance within the party, she made it clear that her loyalty lies with the SLPP as a whole, not with any internal faction. “We are one family,” Kosseh stated. “The position of Treasurer should never be politicized. Unity is the only way forward.”

With a track record of quiet but committed service to the SLPP, Kosseh believes it is time to lead boldly. “This time, I’m not just supporting I’m stepping up,” she declared. She also noted that her conversations with party delegates have affirmed that the SLPP base values capable and principled leadership. “It’s not about who gives the most money. It’s about who brings the most value.”

She ended her speech with a powerful message of integrity and national cohesion. “We need to live our values
honesty, fairness, and accountability starting from within. I want to help build a healthy, transparent financial structure within the SLPP. That’s how we create lasting trust and sustainability.”

Judith Boi Kosseh’s candidacy adds momentum to the SLPP’s upcoming internal elections, with her reform-focused platform bringing renewed attention to the importance of financial stewardship, competence, and party unity.

“One Country, One People,” she concluded
a call she hopes will echo across the nation.
