UBA Group Strengthens Ties with Sierra Leone Subsidiary
FREETOWN, Sierra Leone — 15 July, 2025 — In a significant show of support and strategic alignment, senior executives from the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group held a high-level engagement session with the Executive Management Committee (EMC) of UBA Sierra Leone on Tuesday, 15th July 2025. The meeting underscored the Group’s unwavering commitment to driving digital innovation, operational excellence, and inclusive banking across its African subsidiaries.

The engagement, which took place shortly after UBA Group’s active involvement in Sierra Leone’s National Payment Switch Project alongside the Central Bank of Sierra Leone, reflects a growing emphasis on expanding financial access and modernizing payment systems nationwide. The National Payment Switch Project is a landmark initiative aimed at improving banking interoperability and promoting a more inclusive and efficient financial ecosystem in Sierra Leone.
During the visit, UBA Group executives held productive discussions with key officials at the Central Bank of Sierra Leone, reinforcing their partnership and shared vision of a digitally empowered financial system.
UBA Sierra Leone has emerged as a key player in the local banking landscape, consistently ranking among the top three banks in the country based on profitability, deposit mobilization, and digital banking uptake. This achievement is a direct result of UBA Group’s strategic vision and continuous investment in its subsidiaries.
“Our strategic objective is for all UBA subsidiaries to consistently rank among the top three in profitability, deposit growth, customer experience, and digital innovation within their respective markets,” stated Sanusi Mudasiru, Group Executive and Head of Africa Operations. “This visit is part of a broader effort to ensure that we are aligning our operations and support systems with the unique needs and opportunities within each country.”
Romaric Sia, UBA Group’s Chief Information Security Officer, emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of cybersecurity. “UBA upholds a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to security threats.
