Adonkia Hall Clinches Victory at 2025 MMTU Inter-Hall Sports Meet

Adonkia Hall (Yellow) emerged victorious at the 2025 Inter-Hall Track and Field Athletics Sports Meet of the Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU), securing 318 points in a thrilling two-day competition held on Thursday, 10th and Saturday, 12th April 2025, at the MMTU Sports Grounds in Goderich, Freetown.

The event was graced by the Distinguished Grand Chief Patron, Hon. Dr. Sidi Mohamed Tunis, Sierra Leone People’s Party Member of Parliament for Pujehun District and former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament. He presented the championship trophy to Adonkia Hall and commended the university for promoting unity through sports.

Juba Hall (Blue) finished second with 312 points, followed by Lumley Hall (Green) with 272 points, and Lakka Hall (Red) in fourth place with 253 points. Lakka Hall was, however, awarded the Best Behaved Hall trophy.

In his keynote address, Hon. Tunis applauded the Vice Chancellor and Principal, Professor Philip John Kanu, for his leadership. He emphasized the unifying power of sports and its potential as a vehicle for economic empowerment and personal growth. Hon. Tunis encouraged student-athletes to remain determined and committed, noting that some could become national sports icons.

He also pledged continuous support to MMTU, encouraged students to visit him in Parliament, and hinted at future collaborations with the university. Hon. Tunis shared that he had recently visited other academic institutions, including Njala University, IPAM, and Fourah Bay College, and looked forward to returning to MMTU for a more impactful engagement.

A high point of the event was the presentation of a Thank You Card and commemorative T-shirts to Hon. Tunis by the Dean of the Brookfield Campus, Madam Aminata Bangura.

The sports meet featured a vibrant parade of athletes and officials, an opening address by the Vice Chancellor, oath-taking, lighting of the Olympic Torch and University Flame, Tug of War finals for both men and women, and a variety of track events including the 100 meters, invitation relays for schools and communities, and alumni races.
